2019 Lebanese protests

The Lebanese protests is a rights-based protest spreading all over Lebanon since October 17th 2019.

It is a peaceful protests passing through all sects and regions, being one of a kind in Lebanon's history in its diversity whether it were social, sectarian, regional, age, or gender. It caught a great interest from a huge group of Lebanese expats, and held the slogan "All of them, means, all of them" as a shout out in the face of most Lebanese politicians. Protesters are demanding rule of law, fighting corruption and social justice.

The failure of the government to handle the economic and social crisis going on in the country triggered this protests, where the government was still debating the national budget for 2020, which imposed new taxes on Whatsapp and an increase VAT, in the midst of an evolving economic crisis, fear of depreciation of the local currency and the lack of the national vision to bring the necessary reforms.
